Body Butter is a great way to keep your skin fresh and moist. This body butter bar recipe combines the moisturizing abilities of cocoa butter, the scent carrying power of diatomaceous earth, and the sweet smells of essential oils.
How to Make Your Own Body Butter Bar
You will need
- ¾ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup food grade diatomaceous earth
- 2 cups melted cocoa butter
- ½ tbsp essential oils
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Mixing bowl
- Wooden spoon
- Soap mold
Place dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine evenly.
Melt your cocoa butter. There are many ways to do this, like putting your cocoa butter in a sealed plastic bag and letting it sit in a bowl of heated water. You can also put your cocoa butter in a glass mixing bowl and place it on top of a simmering pot of water. If you want to try another method, a quick Google search will provide plenty of information.
Once your cocoa butter is thoroughly melted, add the essential oils and mix well.
Gradually add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
The cocoa butter mixture should be pourable and may range from the viscosity of maple syrup to that of molasses. Pour the mixture into soap molds and allow it to harden in a cool place.
Once the mixture is dry, you are ready to enjoy your DE and essential oil body butter bar!
