Fleas are blood-sucking parasites that live outside, in our homes, and on our pets. The good news, though, is that fleas hate diatomaceous earth.

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural pest control that is great to use around your home because it's natural and safe, making it the perfect option to treat your dogs for fleas.

DE can be used around your house to combat pests like roaches and spiders; but there is another pest to combat in your homes: fleas.

Y'know who else likes to spend time in the backyard? Those little bloodsucking, parasitic arachnids: Ticks. If you enjoy any of the activities listed above, you may have come in contact with these little suckers. They are a huge pain to deal with once they attach themselves to you or your pets.

Fleas are quite impressive; their jumping distance, stamina, and all around toughness make them "go anywhere" and "can do" kind of bugs. That's not a good thing. Fleas also make horrible house guests; they bite you, suck your blood, and live in your bed. This means people want to get rid of them and have created many different methods, all with varying levels of success, to remove these bugs from their lives.

If ticks are common in your area, you probably know how problematic they can be. They can latch onto your dog anytime he or she romps around in the grass or the woods, potentially exposing your dog to an assortment of diseases.

There is really no way to kill all the ticks on your property. Ticks are so pervasive that you would have to coat your entire backyard with a thick layer of DE to make sure they don't show up. Another option is to just burn your entire back yard so there is no plant life, just smoldering debris. Neither of those options are reasonable proposals (seriously, they are not good ideas).
